The association announced that, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), Bank of Portugal, and other entities, construction and rehabilitation licenses for residential buildings increased by 17% from January to April compared to the same period in 2024, totaling 6,769.
Meanwhile, the number of licensed new constructions saw a significant increase of 32.5%, reaching 13,467 new homes.
In the first four months of this year, new housing credit granted by financial institutions, excluding renegotiations, rose by 37.9%, amounting to 7.043 billion euros, while the interest rate on housing credit stood at 3.66% in April, reflecting a reduction of 94 basis points compared to the same period last year.
For the month under review, the median value of housing, determined for bank evaluation purposes, recorded an annual increase of 16.9%, driven by increases of 19% in the apartment segment and 11% in detached houses.
