Mercadona announced on Thursday that it purchased 1.4 billion euros worth of goods from national suppliers in 2024, marking a 19% increase from the previous year. Which products stand out?
“With a significant focus in 2024, we have purchased 38,000 tons of tomatoes, 22 million liters of milk, 4,500 tons of cheese from different producing regions across the country, and 2,300 tons of fresh fish from local markets arrived in stores daily,” stated a press release distributed to newsrooms.
The company notes that these figures have proven to be “not only a driver of economic and social development but particularly a commitment by the company towards differentiation.”
This purchase volume supports the company’s growth and ensures the supply of over 60 stores across the country, as well as some in the neighboring country.
Mercadona further highlights that over five years, it has increased its purchasing volume by 500%, escalating from an investment of 217 million euros to the current 1.4 billion euros.
