The Public Prosecutor’s Office Magistrates Union (SMMP) announced that the strike scheduled for today, affecting the districts of Porto, Porto Este, Braga, Aveiro, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, and Bragança, has resulted in the postponement of several proceedings. Notably, this includes the Vórtex case trial in Santa Maria da Feira and all trials scheduled for the Criminal Local Courts of Porto and the Central and Local Criminal Courts of Aveiro.

The union reported a 100% strike participation in the judicial areas and branches of Aveiro, including Oliveira de Azeméis (Investigation and Penal Action Department [DIAP], Civil and Labor Courts), Ílhavo, Anadia, Aveiro (local and central criminal and labor courts), in Braga: Fafe (DIAP/Local/Family), Amares, Vieira do Minho, Barcelos, and Braga (Family and Minors), in Bragança: a halt in all local courts and branches, and in Viana do Castelo: Monção, Caminha, Ponte da Barca, Arcos de Valdevez, Viana do Castelo (Labor Office).

In the Porto and Porto Este district, there were varying levels of participation: DIAP and Criminal Instruction Court (TIC) of Porto – 68%,

Porto’s petty crime sector – 50%, Sentence Execution Court (TEP) of Porto – 75%, Administrative and Fiscal Court (TAF) of Porto – 85%, Specialized Sections for Domestic Violence in Matosinhos – 57%, and Deputy Attorney Generals (PGA) in Porto – 40%.

The union noted that there was no participation record for Maia due to a municipal holiday, while in Porto Este the average was 82.9%, and in Paredes and Marco de Canaveses, it reached 100%.

The statement also disclosed figures for Vila Real: Northern Area (Montalegre, Chaves, Valpaços, and Vila Pouca de Aguiar) reported 85% participation, while the Southern Area (Vila Real, Alijó, and Peso da Régua) reported 76% participation.

The SMMP protest concludes Tuesday with stoppages at the Évora and Coimbra Regional Attorney General’s Offices.
