A 17-year-old girl was arrested in Algés, Oeiras, on suspicion of domestic violence against her former partner, the Public Security Police (PSP) disclosed in a statement released on Friday.
According to police officers, the arrest occurred in the early evening of June 23rd, after the PSP was called to a reported altercation between two young women near a restaurant in Algés.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that one of the young women displayed visible signs of assault, including a nasal hemorrhage and bruises, alongside “a great state of anxiety and fear.”
After speaking with those involved, the PSP discovered that the aggressor, the victim’s ex-partner, “attempted to forcibly rekindle the relationship,” reacting with physical violence after the request was rejected.
The victim also informed PSP officers about “previous episodes of intimidating behavior, psychological pressure, and material damage” by the aggressor, further revealing her frequent drug use.
The suspect was detained and presented for the first judicial interrogation, ultimately being placed in preventive detention, the most severe coercive measure.
On Thursday, the PSP also reported a case involving violence between minors who were former partners.
In that instance, the 17-year-old victim was pushed against a glass door and punched by her ex-boyfriend and his current partner, after they confronted her at the school she attends.
The minor was in serious condition and underwent three surgeries.

The PSP emphasizes the importance for victims and witnesses to consistently report domestic violence instances, noting that “all reported situations are immediately subject to risk assessment, aiming to swiftly implement urgent safety and protection measures for the victim in each specific case.”
This security force indicates that domestic violence complaints can be made by anyone via the email “vi****************@*sp.pt” or in person at PSP stations.
