17-year-old girl who beat up her ‘ex’ drank and did drugs daily

A 17-year-old girl, who was recently placed in preventive detention for assaulting her underage ex-girlfriend in Algés, was identified as a “daily consumer of alcoholic beverages and narcotics” and had pressured the victim to “engage in sexual acts” a day before her arrest, as revealed by a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office of the Judicial District of West Lisbon, released this Monday.

The girl was detained by the Public Security Police (PSP) on June 23 after assaulting her ex-girlfriend outside a restaurant following an unsuccessful attempt to “forcibly resume the relationship.”

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Judicial District of West Lisbon indicates that “it was strongly evidenced that the defendant and the victim, aged 16, maintained a dating relationship for about a year and a half, from June 2023 to January 2025.”

“The defendant is a daily consumer of alcoholic beverages and narcotics, frequently found intoxicated and under the influence of drugs, which alters her behavior and makes her aggressive,” it further reveals.

During the relationship, the defendant “constantly argued with the victim in public and at various locations, insulted and threatened her, causing the victim to live in constant fear.”

It was in January, “after prolonged pressure and threats from the defendant,” that the victim ended the relationship and “started dating a boy.”

“The defendant, not accepting the situation, threatened the victim, even saying that she would kill her mother” and “even assaulted the victim on multiple occasions with pushes and kicks.”

In June of this year, before her arrest, the young woman “pressured” the victim to “engage in sexual acts,” which the victim refused. Faced with this, “the defendant began shouting insults at her.”

The following day, the incident leading to her detention occurred. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the victim was “accompanied by a friend” when she was assaulted with “a headbutt to the face,” striking her “in the mouth and nose and biting her neck.”

“The victim fell helplessly to the ground, managing to seek help from passersby who called the PSP,” it states.

It is noted that the young woman appeared for her first judicial hearing on June 24 and was placed in preventive detention.

The inquiry is ongoing in the DIAP of the Oeiras section.
