17-year-old pays for fun at the fair with “fake note”. Ended up detained.

A 17-year-old was apprehended by the Public Security Police (PSP) on October 4th in Vila Franca de Xira, under suspicion of engaging in forgery and fraud.

According to a PSP statement, during the policing of the ‘October Fair,’ officials were alerted by the manager of an attraction at the site to report a fraudulent incident targeted at him moments earlier.

He explained that just moments before, an individual had paid for tokens to access the amusement area using a counterfeit 20-euro note.

The victim provided the suspect’s description to the PSP, noting that if the young man returned, he would alert the authorities.

About 15 minutes later, the PSP was called back to the location as the suspect had returned, intending to use other counterfeit notes in his possession. He was intercepted nearby.

“Following a brief search and entirely consistent with the description given by the victim, 255 euros in counterfeit notes – in denominations of 10 and 20 euros – were found on him, supporting the alleged crime,” the statement reads.

The detained individual was summoned to appear at the Lisbon North Judicial Court for summary trial proceedings.
