
A 17-year-old Portuguese teenager died on Friday night following a motorcycle accident in the canton of Valais, Switzerland.
The accident occurred shortly before midnight on the road connecting Aproz to Riddes, as stated in a communiqué from the Valais Cantonal Police.
“Upon reaching a right-hand curve, for reasons that the investigation will need to determine, the teenager lost control of the motorcycle and fell on the road,” the authorities reported.
The police noted that “despite the swift intervention of rescuers,” the teenager died at the scene of the accident.
Traffic on the road was halted during the rescue operations.
A judicial inquiry has been opened to ascertain the circumstances of the accident, and authorities have appealed for witness assistance.
