The Portuguese Navy Ship (NRP) Sagres, currently on a cadet training voyage from the Naval School throughout northern Europe, docked for the first time at the port of Esbjerg, Denmark, on Tuesday, August 5. The Portuguese Navy disclosed this information.
In a Facebook post and on its official website, the Armed Forces detailed that following a journey through the English Channel, the NRP Sagres began navigating the North Sea this week and docked at the Danish port to participate in the Tall Ships Race, representing Portugal and the Portuguese Navy.
The vessel, in service for Portugal for 63 years, docked for the first time at the Danish port of Esbjerg, marking it as the 170th foreign port.
The same post highlights that the ship’s crew and embarked cadets are undertaking extensive maintenance and cleaning work as part of the Tall Ships Race. The NRP Sagres will be open to the public for visits from August 6 to 8.
The NRP Sagres has been on this training voyage of the second-year Naval School cadets since July 21, during which the future Navy officers have developed essential skills for their training.
The voyage is expected to conclude on September 6, when the ship is scheduled to return to Portugal.
