The Territorial Command of Évora by the GNR reported in a statement that a suspect was arrested on Thursday by officers from the Mourão Territorial Post.
“Following a report about several individuals stealing olives on private property, the Guard’s officers headed to the scene,” noted the GNR, adding that “as a result of the police actions, it was possible to intercept one of the suspects, who was immediately caught in the act.”
During the operation, according to the security forces, 300 kilograms of olives along with nets and sticks for shaking the trees were seized.
The olives, valued at around 200 euros, were returned to their rightful owner, added the GNR.
The facts have been communicated to the Judicial Court of Reguengos de Monsaraz.
The National Republican Guard (GNR) reminds that it is currently conducting the “Campo Seguro 2025” operation to enhance policing aimed at deterring and preventing thefts in agricultural fields through patrol actions, awareness, and oversight, with the purpose of preventing crimes against property in agricultural areas, stressing that all suspicious activity should be reported.
