A 19-year-old man was arrested in the act of domestic violence after “violently assaulting” his parents in Corroios, Seixal.
The Public Security Police (PSP) announced in a statement sent to newsrooms on Wednesday that the arrest was made “in response to an ongoing domestic violence call.”
A patrol car arrived at the scene and “intercepted the suspect,” who exhibited “clear evidence of having just violently assaulted his parents, especially vulnerable due to their age.”
According to the security force, the young man was already attempting to flee in his vehicle, with his shirt “visibly stained with blood.”
“After attending to and hearing from the victims, it was discerned that the episodes of violence were recurrent,” explained the PSP, noting that the “severity was increasing,” as the suspect had “easy access” to “firearms used as a means of death threat.”
During a home search, the PSP seized a shotgun, a pistol, four knives, and 152 rounds of ammunition.
A mobile phone, a precision balance, 27 doses of hashish, 12 doses of marijuana, 650 euros in cash, and various packaging items were also seized.
After appearing for his preliminary judicial hearing at the Judicial Court of Seixal, the young man was remanded in custody.
