1st phase of access to Higher Education opens with almost 56 thousand vacancies

Applications must be submitted on the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) website, with the deadline set for August 4.

For the upcoming academic year, universities and polytechnic institutes have offered 55,956 places (an increase of 643 from the previous year) through the general access regime, which includes the national competition and local competitions, intended for courses such as arts programs.

For emigrant candidates, descendants of Portuguese nationals, or those seeking to replace entrance exams with foreign exams, the application submission deadline is earlier, on July 28.

Students will have the choice of over 1,100 options across 34 higher education institutions.

The results will be announced on August 24, and candidates placed in the first phase have until August 28 to complete their registration.

The second phase takes place from August 25 to September 3, with results released on September 14, followed by the third phase from September 23 to 25, whose results will be available on October 1.

To apply, students need an access password—requestable via the DGES website—and the ENES form, issued by the school with the final high school grade and entrance exam results.
