
A two-year-old girl sustained severe burns from oil in Torre de Moncorvo on Monday evening, confirmed the Torre de Moncorvo Volunteer Firefighters to Notícias ao Minuto.
Due to the seriousness of the first and second-degree burns, the child required transportation by helicopter to São João Hospital in Porto.
“The burns are of the first and second degree and have affected the girl’s face, upper and lower limbs, and other parts of the body,” explained the fire department source.
The alert was received from the Center for Medical Emergency Guidance (CODU) at 7:00 PM, prompting immediate response to the child’s residence.
At the scene were ten responders and four vehicles from Torre de Moncorvo Firefighters, the Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Vila Nova de Foz Côa, the helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) of Macedo de Cavaleiros, and the National Republican Guard (GNR) of Torre de Moncorvo, which took charge of the incident.
