“Upon the arrival of our first team, we found a male individual partially buried in a well and initiated all stabilization efforts for the victim,” stated Carlos Sousa.
The commander noted that upon the arrival of the Emergency Medical and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER), “the doctor declared the death on site.” The deceased, he stated, is a “25-year-old individual who was working in a well.”
He further informed, through agency Lusa, that there was also a minor injury, which “is the father [of the deceased], who needed hospital transport to receive medical care, considering his cardiac problems and his state of shock.”
“A psychologist from INEM [National Institute of Medical Emergency] and the Municipality of Sátão, as well as the municipal civil protection team, were also called to the scene,” added commander Carlos Sousa.
The incident occurred in the locality of Vila Boa, in the municipality of Sátão, Viseu district.
According to the Viseu Dão Lafões Sub-regional Civil Protection Command, the alert was raised at 4:14 PM and there were 13 operatives on site, supported by six vehicles from the Sátão Volunteer Fire Department, INEM, the National Republican Guard (GNR), and the Municipality of Sátão.
