An accident in Castelo Branco district was reported by the Beira Baixa Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection at 08:16, indicating that the victim, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died after the car veered off the road.
Traffic was restricted in that section while rescue operations and road cleaning were underway.
The Beira Baixa command confirmed that 11 operatives, including firefighters from Idanha-a-Nova, a medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle from INEM, and the GNR, were present with five vehicles to assist at the scene.
