Four individuals were arrested on Tuesday in Idanha-a-Nova, Castelo Branco, for allegedly trafficking drugs to attendees of the Boom Festival 2025.
The arrests, announced in a Wednesday statement by the Polícia Judiciária, involved three men and one woman, all foreign nationals, aged 23, 29, 33, and 35.
Authorities confiscated 32 grams of MDMA, 21 grams of DMT (dimethyltryptamine – a natural psychedelic substance), 76 individual doses of ketamine, 20 hallucinogenic mushrooms, and 36 grams of cannabis from the suspects.
In addition to the drugs, 4,000 euros in cash, believed to be proceeds from sales, were seized.
The operation was coordinated with the National Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking.
The Boom Festival began on July 17 and will conclude on Thursday. Since its inception in 1997, the event has been a convergence of diverse art forms, including music, painting, sculpture, video art, cinema, installations, and theater.
Authorities have been regularly updating on arrests, noting that this year at least 15 individuals have been detained. Among them, two were apprehended before the festival but intended to sell substances there in Idanha-a-Nova.
Of the 13 already detained in Castelo Branco, all are foreign nationals. In addition to the seized drugs, approximately 40,000 euros have been confiscated.
