Immediate action was taken with elements from the Portimão Maritime Police Command, the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) of INEM, and the Humanitarian Association of Silves Volunteer Firefighters deployed to the scene.
“Upon arrival at the location, it was found that the victim had been removed from the water in cardiorespiratory arrest, and a physician was present who immediately initiated resuscitation maneuvers until VMER personnel arrived to continue these efforts”, stated the AMN in a communiqué.
Despite numerous resuscitation attempts, the situation could not be reversed, with the death verification report issued by the VMER doctor.
The body was transported by firefighters to the Barlavento Algarve Legal Medical Office after contact with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, according to the AMN, adding that the Portimão Maritime Police Command managed the incident.
