
A source from the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Litoral Alentejo reported that the alert for the accident was issued at 07:41, with the death being declared on the scene by the emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER) doctor from the Litoral Alentejo Hospital (HLA) in Santiago do Cacém.
The sub-regional command source stated the deceased was hit by a garbage collection truck on Rua da Aroeira while working in this service.
This is classified as a workplace accident, and the man was an employee of a private company performing garbage collection services, according to the GNR source.
The Authority for Working Conditions (ACT) will be contacted to investigate the circumstances of the incident, it was reported.
Eleven operatives from the Grândola firefighters, the National Institute of Medical Emergencies, and the GNR were dispatched to the site, supported by five vehicles, including the HLA VMER and an Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Alcácer do Sal.
