Three suspects, aged 36, 39, and 56, residing in Porto, Matosinhos, and Vila Nova de Gaia, were arrested on Wednesday on Rua Vieira de Castro, in an area known as a “drug trafficking point,” according to a statement by the Porto Metropolitan Command of the PSP.
During a criminal offense prevention operation, officers encountered “a large queue of individuals, who appeared to be drug addicts waiting to purchase narcotics,” it was reported.
As officers approached, it became apparent that one of the suspects was managing the consumers, organizing them into a line to approach the dealer.
“Upon the perception of the police presence and after several audible warnings, the dealer was intercepted” while attempting unsuccessfully to flee, assaulting the officers in the process.
This action resulted in the seizure of heroin, cocaine, and hashish sufficient for 3,040, 1,420, and 194 individual doses, respectively, along with 2,557 euros and a mobile phone.
The detainees were heard in court, with two subjected to daily police reporting and one to weekly reporting in their respective areas of residence.
On the same day, a 17-year-old was arrested in other parts of Porto for similar crimes, in possession of 64 individual doses of hashish. Another man, aged 40, “was caught with only traces of a substance suspected to be cocaine, but with 303 euros,” added the PSP.
