An accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on the ER243, between Monforte and Santa Eulália, in the Elvas municipality, according to the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Alto Alentejo.
The deceased was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle involved in the incident.
According to a medical source, the individual’s death was confirmed at the scene by a physician from the Portalegre emergency medical service (VMER), and the body was transported to the morgue at Portalegre Hospital.
The rescue operations involved the Monforte Fire Department, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), and the GNR, with a total of 14 operatives supported by eight vehicles.
