Counterfeit products were discovered last Tuesday during a routine inspection of goods declared for import at the port of Vigo, according to a statement released by the Spanish tax agency today.
The merchandise, found in three containers originating from China, was intended for a Portuguese company, indicating that its final destination could be the Portuguese market.
Some of the bags already featured the forged luxury brand logo, either attached or sewn on.
The remaining products imitated specific models of luxury brand bags but did not have the corresponding logos.
With this seizure, the total number of counterfeit products confiscated in recent months has reached nearly 100,000, as reported by the Spanish authorities.
When the Spanish customs detect shipments that infringe industrial property rights (trademarks and patents), they hold them and alert the brand holders so that they can protect their rights through legal action.
