Authorities from the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command indicated that the explosion is suspected to have originated from a gas leak inside a residence located in the city of Fundão.
The incident resulted in serious injuries to a 62-year-old woman and caused material damages to the property, the extent of which is currently being assessed.
The alert was issued at 9:29 AM, mobilizing 18 operational personnel supported by six vehicles, including the GNR and the Covilhã Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER).
