The authorities reported that at 14:40, the Regional Civil Protection Service (SRPC) of Madeira received an alert regarding an incident involving a person experiencing cardiorespiratory arrest on the beach.
Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched, including personnel from the Funchal Maritime Police Command, the Portuguese Red Cross, and the Rapid Intervention Medical Team (EMIR).
“Upon arrival, it was found that the man had been pulled from the water by bystanders who promptly began Basic Life Support measures, though the situation could not be reversed,” the statement said.
The EMIR doctor confirmed the death on the scene, and the body was transported to the Legal Medical and Forensic Office of Madeira. The local command of the Funchal Maritime Police has taken charge of the occurrence.
