At 13:45, a source from the Territorial Command of Évora of the GNR reported that the accident resulted in a fatality. However, no information was yet available regarding the two people who sustained minor injuries.
Around the same time, a source from the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Central Alentejo also referred to the fatality, whose body was still at the scene.
“The two people with minor injuries were transported to Évora hospital,” added Civil Protection, also lacking additional information about these victims.
According to the GNR, traffic, which was halted in both directions on the EN2 near the town of Mora following the collision of two passenger vehicles, remained disrupted as of 13:45.
The accident, which authorities were alerted to at 12:11, occurred around kilometer 475 on the EN2. Approximately 10 minutes later, “traffic was blocked in both directions” on the EN2 for rescue operations, according to the sub-regional civil protection command.
The National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) helicopter stationed in Évora was initially deployed to the scene but was later deactivated.
The incident engaged a total of 27 operatives, supported by 12 vehicles, including firefighters, GNR, the Mora Municipal Civil Protection Service, and INEM, with Évora’s medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) and Ponte de Sor’s immediate life support ambulance (SIV).
