A 78-year-old woman, found disoriented and unable to recall her home address in Lisbon, was located by the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) with the help of the ‘Estou Aqui Adultos’ bracelet.
In a statement released to the press on Wednesday, the PSP reported that the incident occurred at 5:20 PM on March 31. The woman had been brought to the Baixa-Pombalina police station by an employee of the Sul e Sueste Ferry Terminal.
The elderly woman could not remember her home address, but the officers noticed she was wearing the ‘Estou Aqui Adultos’ bracelet, which enabled them to identify her residence and emergency contact.
She was then escorted home by the police, who handed her over to her grandson.
According to the website estouaquiadultos.mai.gov.pt, the ‘Estou Aqui Adultos’ bracelet is designed to ensure the safety of all users in public by facilitating a swift reunion with a pre-designated family member or acquaintance.
The bracelets are intended for individuals who, due to age or medical conditions, might become disoriented or temporarily unconscious in public spaces.
