An 80-year-old man sustained serious injuries following an incident involving a tractor early in the afternoon on Saturday, in Cortes, Monção municipality.
According to the Monção Volunteer Fire Department, the alert for an “off-road vehicle accident” was received at approximately 2:15 PM on Rua da Barca in Cortes.
The victim was transported in serious condition to the Local Health Unit of Monção.
A source from the Alto Minho Sub-Regional Command clarified that there was “no accident” with the agricultural vehicle, indicating that the elderly man fell off the tractor.
Seven fire department personnel were dispatched to the scene, supported by two vehicles, along with the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Immediate Life Support ambulance from Valença, and the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Viana do Castelo.
