The latest weekly report on seasonal vaccination indicates that 304,554 individuals received a booster against COVID-19, and 514,906 were vaccinated against the flu during this period.
The document reveals that, in the last week alone, 330,961 people were vaccinated against the flu, with over 172,000 receiving their shots at pharmacies and 158,000 at the National Health Service (SNS).
Regarding COVID-19, 198,029 people were vaccinated in the past seven days, with more than 100,000 vaccinated in pharmacies.
According to DGS data, as of last Sunday, 77,401 individuals over the age of 85 had been vaccinated against the flu, achieving a vaccination coverage rate of 22.65%. In the same age group, 55,288 COVID-19 vaccines were administered, with a coverage rate of 16.18%.
The age group with the highest vaccination numbers was those between 70 and 79 years old, with 180,010 receiving the flu vaccine and 109,392 the COVID-19 vaccine.
The total number of people aged 60 and over vaccinated against the flu reached 449,105 in the first two weeks, corresponding to a 14.94% coverage rate, while 279,147 (9.29%) received a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Autumn-Winter Seasonal Vaccination campaign for 2025-2026 runs until April 30, 2026, across SNS health units and 2,500 community pharmacies. The DGS aims to vaccinate approximately 2.5 million individuals against the flu and 1.5 million against COVID-19.
Under the slogan “Get vaccinated and protect the most important moments,” this year’s campaign, which began on September 23, introduces free flu vaccination for all children between six and 23 months and subsidized vaccines for those aged two to five years.
The DGS recommends influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for everyone over 60, people with chronic illnesses, and healthcare professionals, emphasizing the importance of immunization against these viruses.
