An accident this afternoon involving two passenger vehicles on Highway 8 (A8) resulted in the death of an 82-year-old woman and serious injuries to a 90-year-old man, who has been hospitalized, according to the GNR.
The duty officer at the GNR command in Lisbon reported that the accident alert was issued at 4:22 PM, leading to a complete road closure, with traffic around 7:15 PM moving only on the left lane.
The 82-year-old woman’s death was declared at the scene by emergency medical services, while the seriously injured 90-year-old was transported to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon. There were also minor injuries to a person in the other vehicle involved in the accident.
The collision occurred on the A8, south to north direction, at kilometer 21.7, near the junction with the A21, in the Malveira area.
