Évora Hospital with limitations in internal medicine in the Multipurpose Emergency Department

The Local Health Unit of Central Alentejo (ULSAC) announced today in a statement that limitations have been imposed since 20:00 on Thursday and will continue until 20:00 on Monday.

During this period, the Emergency Service at the Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora (HESE) for the Internal Medicine specialty is only admitting patients referred by the CODU/INEM, other doctors, or through the SNS 24, according to the statement.

“This temporary measure is due to a high influx of patients with complex clinical conditions requiring hospitalization, combined with a reduction in the available team in the mentioned specialty,” explained the local health unit, which the Évora hospital is part of.

The institution urged the public to contact the SNS 24 line (808 24 24 24) or primary healthcare units before going to the hospital to ensure appropriate referral based on the severity of their situation.

The ULSAC also reminded that 24-hour service is available at the health centers of Vendas Novas, Montemor-o-Novo, and Estremoz in the Évora district.

In the statement, the local health unit expressed its gratitude, requested everyone’s cooperation, and emphasized that “this measure aims to ensure the safety and quality of care provided.”
