The alert for six people facing difficulties in the international stretch of the Minho River was received shortly after 4:00 PM. Emergency response was promptly activated, involving the Maritime Police, firefighters, and an Emergency Medical and Resuscitation Vehicle.
Upon the emergency teams’ arrival, the individuals had already been removed from the water and brought to the riverbank with the assistance of a nearby vessel.
Among the individuals, a 54-year-old Spanish man was in cardiac arrest, and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
