A cyclist is in serious condition after falling from a cliff on Parede Beach in Cascais while participating in the activity.
The alert was sounded at 11:00 AM by the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), reporting the fall of a cyclist from a cliff in the beach area.
According to the National Maritime Authority, in a note published online, Maritime Police elements from the Cascais Local Command, as well as firefighters from Parede and Alcabideche, were immediately dispatched to the scene. INEM elements and lifeguards on duty at a nearby beach were also mobilized.
Upon arrival, it was found that the victim had sustained several fractures, and the Alcabideche Volunteer Firefighters conducted the rescue of the man, who was subsequently transported in serious condition to a hospital by the Parede Volunteer Firefighters.
The Cascais Local Command of the Maritime Police took charge of the incident.
