A construction worker lost his life on Tuesday at the site of the new Madeira Central and University Hospital, as confirmed by emergency services.
The victim, aged between 40 and 50, succumbed to injuries following a workplace accident.
The alert was raised to the Funchal Fire Department at 3:01 PM, with the Rapid Intervention Medical Team (EMIR) also responding to the scene.
The death was pronounced at the site.
The new hospital in Madeira, currently under construction, will feature a helipad, 11 operating theaters, and 607 beds, including 79 for Intensive Care.
