
A section of the A24 is closed off between kilometers 1 and 7, in the municipality of Chaves, in the northern district of Vila Real.
The fire is spreading rapidly and unpredictably, driven by wind gusts reaching 40 kilometers per hour.
The blaze, which has been burning in Galicia for several weeks, entered Chaves today, moving towards Cambedo and spread towards Agrela, Torre, Couto, Vilela Seca, reached the business area, and advanced to Outeiro Seco.
According to the website of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), this incident, which began on national territory at 10:25 a.m. on Monday in Vilar de Perdizes (Montalegre), had 310 operatives, 98 vehicles, and two aerial means mobilized by 7:50 p.m.
