Festival Corpo de Hoje starts in the Algarve and extends to Funchal in 2026

A festival featuring shows, workshops, and performances will include programming for children and youth, emphasizing the dialogue between art, heritage, community, and the body, as announced by the cultural association Corpo de Hoje.

In the Algarve, the event takes place from September 1 to 14, moving to Funchal from February 23 to 28 and March 21 to 29, 2026, where the piece ‘língua destravada’ will be presented, carrying the intangible heritage of the Algarve to Madeira.

The 2025 edition opens in Loulé from September 1 to 6, with the workshop ‘Audible Movement Visible Sound,’ led by Mark Tompkins and Nuno Rebelo, culminating in a performance on the 6th at the Auditório do Solar da Música Nova. On the same day, the Mercadinho Cultural will be held near the Cineteatro Louletano.

On September 7, Loulé Municipal Park will host the show ‘A galinha da minha vizinha’ by Graça Ochoa, presented by CRL – Central Elétrica, followed by a community picnic.

Also on the 7th, Loulé’s Historic Center will host the initiative ‘palcos aleatórios {ou a urgência de (me)mover por aí}’ featuring a workshop and performance by ananeto and guest artists.

From September 11 to 14, choreographer Natércia Kuprian will lead the workshop ‘[trans] [bordar]’ with a final presentation at the corpodehoje Studio in Loulé.

The program then moves to Tavira on September 13, with ‘Mostra-me o teu quintal, dir-te-ei quem és’ – a blend of affective stories, art, and nature with Ana Borges and guests at Quintal do Castelo.

On the same day, the initiative ‘palcos aleatórios_random stages {ou a urgência de (me)mover por aí}’ will feature ananeto and guests, starting at Tavira Castle.

The event in Tavira concludes with ‘Guião Para uma Dança Feliz’ by Dora Fonseca at São Francisco Garden.

Meanwhile, in Loulé at the corpodehoje studio, Cláudio Vidal presents the performance ‘Entre Casas’ in the late afternoon.

The festival concludes in the Algarve on September 14, in Almancil at ZEFA – Centro de Arte Contemporânea, with another session of ‘Mostra-me o teu quintal, dir-te-ei quem és,’ and a repeat of ‘Guião Para uma Dança Feliz’ at the same venue.

In parallel, the event continues its Sem Rede workshops, offering spaces for improvisation and experimentation that connect artists and the community, promoting creative awareness and art education, concludes the association.
