The proposals from Chega and the PCP were put to a vote during an extraordinary meeting of the leaders’ conference and were unanimously approved, the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, told journalists at the end of the meeting.
The debate is scheduled to take place next Wednesday, the 27th, at 3:00 PM.
In its request submitted to the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Chega called for a plenary session or, alternatively, an extraordinary meeting of the permanent commission, the body that replaces the plenary during parliamentary vacation periods. This session would include the presence of the head of Government, Luís Montenegro, and the Minister of Internal Administration, Maria Lúcia Amaral.
The PCP also requested an extraordinary meeting of the parliament’s Permanent Commission with the presence of the Prime Minister to discuss the fires that have affected the country.
