
A wildfire that initially was only consuming scrubland is now approaching an area with residential properties, according to the fire brigade. It remains unclear if any buildings are currently at risk.
As per the Civil Protection website, by 7:00 PM, 123 personnel were on the ground, supported by 34 land vehicles and two aerial units.
The alert was raised at 3:02 PM, with firefighting units from Ermesinde, Valongo, Coimbrões, Matosinhos/Leça, Trofa, S. Mamede de Infesta, Areosa, Rio Tinto, Pedrouços, Gondomar, Lordelo, Póvoa de Varzim, Moreira da Maia, Santo Tirso, alongside GNR and officials from the Valongo City Council, responding at the scene.
