At 06:45, a source from the Beiras and Serra da Estrela sub-regional command informed that there was no significant progression in the two active fires and noted a significant improvement in the firefighting efforts, which are progressing favorably.
During the night, there were some flare-ups in areas of Fundão, which were promptly controlled, the source added, referring to the fire that began in Arganil.
On Thursday, the escalation of the firefront that reached the Covilhã municipality had led to confinement in Unhais da Serra, Cortes de Baixo, and Cortes do Meio; however, according to the same source, no issues were reported.
By 07:00, the fire that started in Arganil on the 13th was being tackled by 1,605 operational staff, supported by 548 vehicles, while the fire in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, which began on Wednesday, involved 255 firefighters and 81 vehicles, according to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) website.
