The suspect, who does not possess a driver’s license, stole a light commercial vehicle valued at 16,000 euros on Tuesday at 12:15 on Rua D. Dinis. The vehicle, owned by a company, was taken while the driver was momentarily absent making a delivery, leaving the key in the ignition.
According to the PSP, the man took control of the vehicle, which was transporting merchandise worth approximately 15,000 euros. During his escape, he collided with three parked vehicles, mounted sidewalks, and endangered pedestrians, ultimately crashing into a wall. He was subsequently detained.
The PSP reported that the vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner, although the total damage caused is still unknown.
The detainee was brought before the appropriate judicial authorities and has been remanded in custody.
