The police department has issued a statement clarifying that the men, aged between 25 and 53, were arrested on Monday and brought before a judge the following day. They have been ordered to make monthly appearances at a police station as the coercive removal process unfolds.
“These arrests result from inspection activities by the PSP under its new responsibilities regarding the control of foreign nationals and border security,” explained the police authority.
The PSP further stated that the three individuals had been previously notified this year to voluntarily leave the country following inspections at their residences and workplaces.
“After the deadlines for voluntary departure were not met, a new inspection took place. One was found at their residence, another at the airport with missing documents, and a third at a restaurant, which is their workplace. The non-compliance with the instructions led to their arrest,” added the PSP.
