Rescued after falling from a cliff and breaking “lower limb” at Ursa beach

A Brazilian woman was rescued on Saturday afternoon after falling from a cliff at Ursa Beach, an unwatched and “difficult” access point in Sintra.

The 53-year-old victim sustained a fracture in a lower limb and was rescued by an aircraft of the Portuguese Air Force, with support from elements of Project ‘Seawatch’ and firefighters, as detailed by the National Maritime Authority (AMN) in a statement addressed to newsrooms.

Subsequently, the woman was transported to a hospital unit by the Almoçageme Volunteer Firefighters.

The authorities were alerted at 11:10 a.m. by a “bystander who was nearby,” leading to the mobilization of members from the Cascais Maritime Police Command, Project ‘Seawatch’, and crew from the Cascais Lifeboat Station.

The Cascais Maritime Police Command took charge of the incident.
