A 48-year-old man was arrested on August 20 after stealing a delivery van in Vila do Conde.
“The suspect, without a driver’s license, took advantage of the brief absence of the vehicle’s driver, who was making a delivery and had left the key in the ignition,” detailed the Public Security Police (PSP) in a statement sent to newsrooms on Friday.
The man “collided with three parked vehicles, mounted sidewalks, endangering several people,” and crashed into a wall before being apprehended at around 12:30 p.m.
The vehicle, carrying goods valued at approximately 15,000 euros, was recovered and returned to the owner.
Authorities stated they were unaware of the value of the damages caused.
The individual was presented to judicial authorities and was remanded in custody.
