Loures will demolish four more precarious constructions at the Military Slope

An eviction notice was posted today, providing a 48-hour deadline for the evacuation of four buildings.

The Loures City Council, led by socialist Ricardo Leão, indicated that the families residing in these buildings had already been identified, and social workers will visit the neighborhood on Tuesday.

The Loures City Council further clarified that there are no legal obstacles to demolishing the four temporary homes, as the ongoing injunction that halted operations initiated on July 14—granted by a Lisbon administrative court—only pertains to previously existing structures.

The four temporary buildings are believed to have been reconstructed over the weekend of August 16 and 17.

On July 14, the Loures municipality launched a demolition operation targeting 64 makeshift homes, constructed by residents at Talude Militar, where 161 people lived. Fifty-one houses were demolished on the first day, followed by four more on the second.

The operation was subsequently suspended following a Lisbon court order, resulting from an injunction filed by 14 residents.
