
The operational theater received reinforcements in recent hours, increasing to 124 personnel after aerial units ceased operation with nightfall, according to a source from the Alto Minho Sub-regional Command.
As of 10:20 PM, the same source reported that the fire had two active fronts and that the combat efforts were progressing favorably.
The fire broke out at 3:21 PM, and by 7:00 PM, the Mayor of Arcos de Valdevez, Olegário Gonçalves, stated to Lusa that the flames were burning in the bushland areas of Mezio, Cabana Maior, and Soajo, near the entrance to the Peneda-Gerês National Park (PNPG), with wind intensity being a major concern.
Throughout the day, 12 aerial units were involved in the firefight.
According to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) website, by 10:30 PM, there were 124 personnel on the ground, supported by 42 land vehicles.
