The SINTAP/Açores announced that an agreement concerning healthcare auxiliary technicians was signed today at the Regional Health Secretariat in Angra do Heroísmo on Terceira Island.
This agreement guarantees the right of health auxiliary technicians (TAS), whose career was established by Legislative Decree No. 120/2023 on December 22, to a 35-hour workweek and the receipt of an island subsidy, aligning them with their counterparts in general regime careers, the union stated in a note to Lusa news agency.
SINTAP highlighted that TAS working in hospitals in the Autonomous Region of the Azores have already begun receiving their adjusted salaries this August according to their new pay scales.
The union also noted the commencement, in August, specifically at Angra do Heroísmo hospital, of retroactive payments for the career implementation due since January 1, 2024, as previously assured.
The union’s leadership expects the process to be completed in other establishments by the end of September at the latest.
The SINTAP expressed satisfaction with the authority’s efforts, which honored its promise and acknowledged the new TAS career justice.
The career implementation for TAS in the Azorean Health Units has been successfully completed earlier, given the public service work framework, it recalls.
