The suspect was arrested on Tuesday by the GNR in Vila Real, handed over to the Judiciary Police, and today appeared in court, where it was decided to place him in preventive detention.
In a statement, the GNR reported that following a complaint related to a forest fire in the locality of Vila Marim, in the Alvão mountain range, the officers conducted police measures that allowed them to identify and apprehend the suspect.
The officers determined that the fire had been started by direct flame, through the use of a lighter found in the possession of the individual.
The arrest took place at 02:00 on Tuesday, and according to the GNR, the suspect’s lighter was seized.
