
Before the parliamentary Standing Committee debate, attended by the Prime Minister, on “The situation of wildfires in Portugal,” José Pedro Aguiar-Branco extended his “deepest condolences to the families of the victims and solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy.”
“I express my belief that we will, here in parliament, collectively seek the necessary solutions to support those suffering and try to prevent such tragedies from recurring. This is the responsibility that falls upon us all,” he stated.
The parliament president also offered “words of appreciation to the firefighters and all professionals and volunteers who have been on the ground” defending communities and territories.
