More than 40 municipalities at maximum fire risk this Thursday

The interior north and central regions, along with the Algarve, are facing a very high risk of rural fire, according to IPMA.

Data indicate that the risk will decrease on Friday and Saturday.

This risk level is categorized into five stages, ranging from reduced to maximum, based on factors like air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation in the last 24 hours.

Today, the forecast for the mainland anticipates periods of heavy cloud cover and light, scattered rain until mid-morning in the northern and central regions, especially along the coast, and at the end of the day in Minho.

Winds are expected to be light to moderate from the west/northwest, occasionally strong, with gusts reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour (km/h) along the coastal strip south of Cabo Raso during the afternoon and in the highlands, particularly in the central and southern regions.

Morning fog or mist is also anticipated in some areas in the northern and central regions.

Minimum temperatures will range from 9 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) to 18 (in Lisbon and Faro), with maximums between 20 degrees (in Viana do Castelo) and 29 (in Évora and Faro).
