Circulation resumed on EN383 in Aljustrel after an accident with five injured.

Authorities from the Baixo Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported that traffic on the road was halted today in both directions between Montes Velhos and Jungeiros in the municipality of Aljustrel, Beja district, from approximately 15:30 until 17:31 due to the accident.

The alert for the vehicle accident, which occurred at kilometer 56 of the EN383, was issued at 15:33, according to the same source.

The accident involving a passenger car resulted in five injuries, four of whom sustained minor injuries and were transported to Beja hospital, while one suffered serious injuries, becoming trapped and requiring transport by helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon. This information was provided by the emergency command source.

The seriously injured individual is a 14-year-old boy, while the minor injuries were sustained by a 46-year-old woman and three boys aged between 11 and 14 years.

A total of 36 emergency responders were deployed to the scene, including firefighters, INEM, and GNR personnel, supported by a helicopter and 14 vehicles, which included Beja’s emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER) and a Castro Verde Immediate Life Support ambulance (SIV).
