PSP arrested two fans who violated stadium access prohibition.

“The individual’s presence was detected during the match between Sporting and FC Porto. The fan was subject to an ancillary sanction imposed by the Authority for the Prevention and Combating of Violence in Sport (APCVD), following the failure to exercise correction, moderation, and respect during a sporting event,” the national direction of the PSP explained in a statement.

A day earlier, on Friday, at the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium in Leiria, also in a fourth-round match but in the second division, another individual was arrested “for the same reasons,” in this case for being subject to an “ancillary sanction following the throwing of objects during a sporting event.”

Authorities remind that by disrespecting the exclusion measure, both individuals committed the crime of disobedience, as stipulated in Article 348 of the Penal Code, punishable by imprisonment for up to one year or a fine for up to 120 days.

Considering all matches of the first four rounds, the number of fans intercepted for non-compliance with exclusion measures rises to seven.

The PSP notes that these arrests “reinforce the authorities’ commitment to ensuring compliance with established norms and promoting a safe and protected environment at sporting events.”

The organization highlights its determination and that of the APCVD in “preserving the integrity and proper functioning of sporting events,” ensuring that everyone can enjoy them “in safety and tranquility.”

The commitment of the PSP and the APCVD remains crucial to building a fairer and more protected environment, promoting respect for established norms and valuing the sporting spirit,” the statement concludes.
