Arrests were made on Monday when the men, aged between 17 and 44, were caught “in the act” of stealing from a vehicle, causing damage to the vehicle, noted the GNR in a statement.
The men were approached following a theft report indicating that the suspects were “engaging in theft inside a commercial vehicle with various machinery used in construction”, explained the GNR.
“During the action, the suspects were caught in the act and all the stolen machinery was seized,” clarified the police force, noting that the equipment was later returned to the owners.
The GNR highlighted that the three detainees have criminal records for crimes against property.
After the arrest, the three detainees were brought before the Faro Judicial Court for their first interrogation, and in the end, the examining judge ordered pre-trial detention for two of them, the GNR added.
The third was prohibited from entering and remaining in the Algarve region, the GNR added.
