Two detained for illegal stay in the country. A third was expelled.

Two men, aged 35 and 37, were detained by the National Republican Guard (GNR) in Reguengos de Monsaraz on Tuesday, September 9, for illegal stay in the country.

The GNR conducted a roadside inspection, stopping a vehicle carrying foreign nationals and discovered they were not adequately identified, as stated in an official communication.

It was determined that two of the individuals had failed to comply with the notification for voluntary departure within the designated timeframe, a fact confirmed through available information systems, with support from the Border and Foreigners Coordination Unit (UCFE). Consequently, they were immediately detained.

The GNR also identified a third man, aged 45, who was notified of the decision for expulsion from national territory and barred from entering the Schengen area for three years.

The detainees will be brought before the Judicial Court of Reguengos de Monsaraz for the application of coercive measures.
